Bitter Gourd II

Had another go at the stuff today. In keeping with my own bloody-mindedness, I didn't opt for bitter gourd mixed with other ingredients which might smother the taste, I just got it plain with a clear soup.

ack! ack! ack! it's so bitter it's almost sweet. ugh.

Well at least it's not blue. I don't think I could eat blue food.

  1. i am an example of a bittergourd-hater turned bittergourd-eater!

    don't give up!

(i can't remember how many pieces it took though... i was hating it till sometime in the past year. i also cannot remember what or why or who or when, but i suddenly am able to consume large pieces now quite enjoyably)

  2. isn't blue cheese blue? it's supposed to be gourmet and all that, but its the smell I can't stand, not the colour... what about you?

  3. Actually I like blue cheese even though it's slightly blue. Hmm.. didn't think of that. I like it with red or white wine, a side of grapes or apple slices to clear my palate (sounds so cool, but that stuff is really strong) and sometimes the blue cheese with just bread is pretty good.

It's embarrassing but I only started liking cheese and wine at one of those Swenson's salad buffets when I took a sip of someone's red whilst chewing down some edam. Then suddenly I realised what it was all about.

Swensons. It's the 70s child equivalent of Swizzler (Sizzler?) salad buffets.
